Poetry Slam™ is a high-energy introduction to the art of performance poetry combined with a unique competition structure that adds immense value to the overall programme. The Spoken Word Show begins with a short interactive multimedia introduction followed by the poets performing original poetry that is accessible and age-appropriate. The show can be customised to incorporate themes pertaining to environment, National education, and social identity. Word Forward has been the leading exponent of spoken word. This storytelling assembly show presents Singaporean folktales or other world traditions through solo or group dramatic storytelling that includes poems, songs, music, staging and projected video elements. Be ready to see and hear Singapore folktales such as the Swordfish story or Badang, the Strong Man of Singapore which aim to address national identity, environmental issues, as well as human values such as love and sacrifice. Professional actors present short, dramatised excerpts and monologues from the Bard’s works because Shakespearean language is best understood through performance. Word Forward presenters also perform original poems inspired by key Shakespearean plays. The Poetry Slam Workshop: Verse to Voice immerses students in the creative process through guided writing exercises, collaborative group work, and expressive stage techniques. Participants learn to craft, refine, and perform original works that draw on the core literary skills of storytelling, poetic rhythm, and dramatic voice. . The programme may be extended into a multi-session course that deepens students’ writing, peer-review, and performance skills, culminating in public outcomes such as a school Poetry, Story, or Monologue Slam, or a themed creative showcase.

Creative Writing Express: Draft to Polish is a lively workshop series that guides students from first idea to finished piece. Through energising exercises, short videos, and guided practice, students discover how imagination becomes language. They explore the 5 Ps of storytelling: People, Place, Problem, Plot, and Point of View. Along the way, they also experiment with poetic rhythm, imagery, and dialogue. Students learn to observe more closely, think more creatively, and express themselves with greater confidence. The programme culminates in a class showcase celebrating the journey from draft to polish.

Brief & Bold 10-Minute Playwriting Showcase is an interactive workshop where students collaborate to write, direct, and perform original short plays. Through a guided, step-by-step process, they master key storytelling and performance skills – developing character, shaping conflict, crafting purposeful dialogue, and staging scenes with clarity and confidence. Each student/team creates a complete 10-minute play for an in-class showcase, with the option of extending the experience into a school play festival or friendly competition.

Shakespearean drama is classical spoken word poetry. The study of Shakespeare’s works is an exciting and necessary part of literary education. Poetry slam’s™ performative modalities can be an inspirational way to attract the interest of students. In its day, dramatic storytelling in verse was popular entertainment. All strata of society attended the most prominent theatre venues of Shakespeare’s time such as The Rose and The Globe. . Group performance of Shakespeare excerpts in a poetry slam™ is a motivational way for students to contextualise poetic dialogue, narrative flow and characterisation.

Create a Digital Anthology: Stories, Poems & Scripts is a trainer-led creative writing and media arts programme where students write, design, and present original multimedia works in real time. Over four structured sessions, participants learn to craft short stories, poems, or scripts and enhance them through images, voice, and sound. The programme builds creative confidence, collaboration, and communication, culminating in a digital showcase where every participant contributes to a class anthology of original work.
