Over 300,000 people have attended WF poetry events at festivals, monthly café venues, arts centres and on Singapore TV. Also, WF has worked with students from over 100 educational institutions from primary to tertiary levels. Singapore Poetry Slam
Since May 2003, our monthly Poetry Slam, first staged at Zouk Singapore and later at Blu Jaz Cafe, helped establish a platform where new voices could emerge and audiences could experience poetry as a living, shared form.
Lit Up Festival
First established in 2009, Lit Up is a ground-up arts festival that focuses on a literary-based multidisciplinary approach towards art. It is a platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase and perform new works in edgy and contemporary environments.
Red Wheelbarrow Books
WF’s imprint is Red Wheelbarrow Books (RWB). Three of the writers, Marc Nair, Pooja Nansi and Bani Hakyal have won the Young Artist Award in Singapore. Three others, Ken Mizusawa, Desmond Kon and Chris Mooney-Singh, have been successful in securing accolades for their works in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and USA.
NAC-AEP Programme
NAC-MAP Programme Word Forward, through The Writers Centre Singapore, contributed to NAC’s Mentor Access Project from 2014 to 2017. The programme supported emerging writers through mentorship, residency, and workshops. It reflects Word Forward’s commitment to nurturing literary voices in Singapore.
